Workshops

We will be offering the following workshops at MACNA XIX.

Details on registering for workshops will be added soon.

 Coral Propagation

Learn basic techniques for fragmenting and mounting corals.  Also learn how to choose appropriate specimens for fragmentation and strategies for optimizing survival.

Anemone Propagation

Sea anemones have abysmal survival rates in captivity with most perishing in the first few weeks.  In addition, wild populations of anemones are under a great deal of ecological pressure.  Fortunately, those specimens that do survive and thrive in captivity are proving to be very tolerant of imposed propagation techniques. In the future, these techniques may be the only source of anemones to the aquarium trade.

Fish Necropsy

The animal equivalent of a human autopsy is called a necropsy.  This workshop will demonstrate the basic techniques for conducting a fish necropsy.  The information obtained from a necropsy will not only identify the cause of death of a lost specimen, but dictate the appropriate treatment for surviving tankmates.
